Breakfast Meltdown

Okay kids, I'm having a breakfast overload. At this point, I'd have to say that I've now cooked over 3000 breakfasts during my time as official innkeeper. I'm getting a little tired of breakfast. My repetoire needs help! Here's what it already includes on a day to day basis:

Poached Eggs
Basted Eggs
Coddled Eggs
Omelets
Baked (Shirred) Eggs
Toad in the Hole
Toast
Muffins Galore
Blintzes
Crepes filled with Fruit or Eggs or Savory Veggies
Biscuits
English Muffins
Bagels
Killer Scones
Ham
Bacon
Sausages
Hash Browns
French Toast a myriad of ways
Pancakes a myriad of ways
Deep Dish German Style Pancakes
Oatmeal
Fresh Fruit
Melted Apples
Poached Pears
Hot Couscous with Dried Fruit

Okay, so that's the main body of the stuff I bounce back and forth through all the time. What I'm looking for is some ideas from you! What's your favorite breakfast?

You hit almost all my favorites! Toad in the Whole is fantabulous, I love me some French Toast and Hashbrowns. Blintzes…yes please! The only thing missing for me is Corned Beef Hash. Nothing makes a heavy duty hangover breakfast better than some legit corned beef hash with some really runny sunny side ups right on the top. Oh, and I love to get some good Portuguese Linguica every once in awhile to spice things up!

What JRB said... corned beef hash, or hash of any sort. (Red flannel hash is a favorite of mine, but nobody else likes it.)

The crappy diner by me does fried slices of haloumi with eggs, which is amazing but also too much salt for a good hangover cure.

hmmm...i'm a *little* bit of a food-weirdo, but i eschew bkfst most of the time, so i don't have that large of a bkst repertoire to pull from. i have been known to partake in a little cream-of-wheat from time to time, and Trail Oatmeal (dried fruit, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, brown sugar if you need) is pretty good even when yr not hiking. the japanese will do miso soup for breakfast, and that's always nice. you already named pretty much everything else...is Toast in the Whole the same as Rocky Mountain toast? What about bkfast burritos or bkfst tacos? maybe go in the direction of some rice-based dishes? good luck!

I like eggs florentine...really, I like anything with spinach, and corned beef hash is a good call by the others. Also think you could get funky creative with breakfast burrito. Sorry I'm not too much help - I have oatmeal or cream of wheat almost everyday! oh, wait - SCRAPPLE!

How about a nice italian frittata?
Or a pastry shell filled with fruit and a dollop of greek yogurt.
I also had this dish at a bed and breakfast once: halve a grapefuit, take the pulp out and fill the rind with halved strawberries. Squeeze the pulp's juice atop the strawberries and top with snipped mint.
Breakfast quiche is pretty easy, you can keep them frozen and then pop them in the oven.
Although you have a lot of French toast already, have you tried making it with brioche? Making special compotes for your waffles and pancakes like blueberry ginger or pear cardamom would also spice them up.
Or you can go southwestern on the kids and put some red green salsa on eggs, over a bed of sliced tortilla chips topped with some añejo cheese.
An easier version of this would be migas or chilaquiles.

Linguica? I looked that up and it sounds great. Where do you get that around here? Also, the offer still stands JRB, whenever you come down and you want a room for the night with your sweety, lemme know, I might have something. That is, until April when I blow this pop stand.

For those who don't know, Toad in the Hole is a fried egg cooked in the center of a piece of toast, right on the griddle. It's awesome and easy, and kids love it.

JB: There will never be a time when the house is okay with miso soup. I think the guests might rise up and revolt if I did that. Even the polite business people, and especially the Romanians.

Pamela: You're the bomb. I actually LOVE that book and have been "borrowing" it from a friend for way too long. I bet she doesn't even remember I have it. Let's it keep it that way people.

Thanks for all your ideas so far!

I was going to suggest natto but if miso soup is no good, nobody will like natto either.

Dan, I still have never had natto! I'm not saying I myself wouldn't be down with either miso soup or natto, it's just the guests. Sometimes they get sad because there's no bacon! It's like you just can't win sometimes.

Part of the charm of what you do now is that we're not likely to make these things for ourselves. Like the banana pancakes this morning--just wonderful, and something I couldn't make myself. Ten times as good as any pancake house.
A couple things I do for myself, but they're probably not widely popular:
-A soy protein smoothy--with banana, strawberries, and chocolate soy milk (and soy protein powder);
-Toasted home-made raisin bread with natural (not Skippy) peanut butter.
You could also do scrambled eggs with lox and onions.
Keep up the great breakfasts!

-Eggs Benedict with either smoked salmon or bacon/spinach
-Big, thick waffles with strawberries and whipped cream
-LOXS and Cream Cheese
-Warm Egg Salad, Ham/Bacon/or Sausage, on an english muffin
